New Homes in Mapleton, Utah are Perfect for Families Who Enjoy Outdoor Recreation

September 28, 2020

Utah is well known for its many state parks that are home to mountains, meadows, lakes, rivers and breathtaking vistas. One of the benefits of living in the Mapleton area is that, with just a short drive, you can be in the middle of nature and its many treasures. The nearby destinations offer camping, fishing, hiking, water sports and many more exciting, family-friendly activities.

Utah Lake State Park

Home to the state’s largest freshwater lake, this park offers 148 square miles of fishing for a wide variety of popular species. The relatively warm water is perfect for paddle boarding and swimming.

There are plenty of campsites across the area with firepits and covered picnic tables and some with RV water and electricity hookups. Boating enthusiasts can access the water via two marinas with multiple loading docks, a fueling station and vehicle leasing facilities.

Deer Creek State Park

A local water sports favorite, this park offers boating, water skiing, windsurfing, sailing and much more. Families can enjoy cookouts and camping in reserved spots and the Island Resort offers wakeboard clinics, boat rentals, a store for supplies, restaurant dining and catering services for special lakeside events. 18 miles of shoreline provides waterfront access for fishing, swimming and family-friendly recreation less than one hour away from Mapleton.

Wasatch Mountain State Park

Just one hour north of Mapleton, Utah, your new home away from home for outdoor fun can be this 23,000-acre preserve. The park offers horseback riding, off-road vehicle terrain, mountain biking and modern facilities for campers. Golfers who enjoy cooler summertime temperatures and challenging, world-class terrain will love the adjacent 18-hole course.

Also within the park, Soldier Hollow, the site of the 2002 Olympic Games offers unique opportunities such as speed skating, figure skating, curling and hockey within the Olympic Oval – bringing the true Olympic spirit to its guests. The park also welcomes wintertime visitors with tubing, cross-country skiing, biathlon terrain and much more.

Camp Floyd State Park

Rich in heritage and local lore, this destination for history buffs offers plenty of places to learn about important events that shaped the culture of the region. Visitors can learn about the local impact of the Pony Express, the short-lived occupancy by Civil War soldiers, 19th Century innkeepers, pioneering educators and more.

The onsite museum tells the story of the region in detail while calendar events offer activities such as woodworking, Dutch oven cooking, military reenactments, cowboy traditions and historically-themed photographs.

Jordanelle State Park

Home to the Jordanelle Reservoir, this regional favorite is a paradise for mountain bikers, hikers, birdwatchers and wildlife photographers. The park is home to dozens of wildlife species including golden eagles, moose, deer, elk and great horned owl. The Rock Cliff and Hailstone recreation areas offer water sports, camping and access to areas of the lake designated for non-motorized boating adventures. Visitors who want a bird’s eye view can launch drones with a permit and horseback riders can use the Ross Creek Trailhead to explore the far north end of the park.
